NEW YORK --Richard Panik broke a tie with 6:13 remaining to help the Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-4 win against the New York Islanders at Barclays Center on Thursday.
Artemi Panarin had two power-play goals and an assist, and Artem Anisimov and Marian Hossa each scored for the Blackhawks (20-8-4), who went 3-for-3 with the man-advantage and are 4-0-1 in their past five games. Scott Darling made 28 saves.
"(I) like (our game), especially after the first period," said Panik, who converted a pass from Dennis Rasmussen. "Our line, we didn't have it a lot on our stick. They scored two goals on us. But it feels good. We step up and find a way to get one for our team."

Andrew Ladd, Casey Cizikas, Ryan Strome and Anders Lee scored for the Islanders (11-13-5), who have lost three straight in regulation. Thomas Greiss made 27 saves.
"We've got to find our game where we're not tightening up," Lee said. "It just seems like we tighten up a bit and are a little sporadic. But at the same time, we're playing good hockey against these guys, and in the third period, we tighten up and they take over."

In a six-goal first period, Ladd scored at 2:14 when he took a pass from Alan Quine and put a wrist shot past Darling for a 1-0 New York lead. Cizikas scored 1:34 later when he finished off a 2-on-1 with Nikolay Kulemin to make it 2-0.
Panarin scored his first goal at 9:47 when he one-timed Brent Seabrook's feed past Greiss to cut the Islanders lead to 2-1. The Blackhawks tied it 2-2 when Anisimov extended his goal streak to three games on the power play at 13:03.

Hossa gave the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead after a turnover by Josh Bailey in the Islanders zone. He redirected Ryan Hartman's pass by Greiss at 14:08 for his 16th goal.
But Strome tied it 3-3 at 15:20 when his shot from the point deflected off Panik and fooled Darling.
Lee put the Islanders back in front 22 seconds into the second period when he redirected Travis Hamonic's shot past Darling to make it 4-3. It was his ninth goal.
Panarin scored his second of the night to tie it 4-4 with 18.7 seconds left in the second when he again one-timed a shot from the left circle past Greiss. It was his 13th goal of the season.

Goal of the game

Panik scored his eighth goal when he took a nifty pass from the corner by Rasmussen and beat Greiss with a wrist shot from the slot. It was Panik's second game-winning goal of the season. "It was a really good pass," Panik said. "I was kind of surprised I got it like in the right spot. I just try to shoot it. I'm glad it went in."

Saves of the game

Darling made a gorgeous pad save on a backhand shot by Bailey in front, and then stopped Hamonic's rebound attempt with 12:33 left in the second period to prevent New York from restoring its two-goal lead.

Highlight of the game

The Blackhawks cycled the puck beautifully around the Islanders zone during a power play before Anisimov redirected Kane's pass by Greiss with 6:57 left in the first period.

Unsung performance of the game

Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson was his usual steady self, blocking three shots with a plus-1 rating in 24:09 of ice time.

They said it

"It's a great sign. You've got great leadership. We don't change the way we play, the consistency of doing the right things. We've been fortunate in a lot of games this year with scoring some big goals. We've had tremendous goaltending this year, we've been good in overtime. But the guys play the right way and the top guys lead the charge, whether it's [Marian] Hossa's five or six big goals for us that led to five, seven, eight points. Basically, that fourth goal was a huge goal for us tonight, (it) put us in the right spot going into the third. Every game has been different, but the timing of some key goals this year has been unbelievable, along with the key saves." -- Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville on their 13-4-4 record in one-goal games
"It's our job to adapt. They kind of scored the same goal three times, two for sure. We have to adapt faster as players and try to execute our game plan. They've got good players over there. You give them time, they're going to pick you apart." -- Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic
"I feel for the guys a little bit because we played hard at even strength, there's no doubt in my mind. You play like that, you've got a chance to win. Obviously, our power play wasn't good enough, theirs was, and we didn't execute on a couple of plays." -- Islanders coach Jack Capuano
