Giroux leads 3 Stars of the Week

NEW YORK - Philadelphia Flyers center Claude Giroux, Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Mitchell Marner and Florida Panthers left wing Mason Marchment have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week ending Feb. 6.

FIRST STAR - CLAUDE GIROUX, C, PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

Giroux registered 3-1-4 across two games, including a pair of goals in the final, to captain the Metropolitan Division to victory and claim MVP honors at the 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Game Feb. 5 in Las Vegas. Giroux, who at 34 years and 24 days became

, became the third player to win the award while representing the Flyers (15-22-8, 38 points) - joining Reggie Leach in 1980 and Wayne Simmonds in 2017. The Hearst, Ont., native now has eight career goals at the NHL All-Star Game (including five under the 3-on-3 format) -

. Giroux, who is playing in his 15th NHL season and 10th as Philadelphia captain, leads the Flyers with 20 assists and ranks second on the team in both goals (15) and points (35) through 42 total appearances in 2021-22.

SECOND STAR - MITCHELL MARNER, RW, TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS

Marner paced the NHL with 3-4-7 in two contests before the 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend to help the Maple Leafs (29-10-3, 61 points) extend their winning streak to five games dating to Jan. 22. He collected 1-2-3, including the tying goal, as Toronto rallied from a two-goal, third-period deficit for a 6-4 victory against the New Jersey Devils Jan. 31. Marchment posted 2-4-6 across two appearances as the Panthers (32-10-5, 69 points) split their contests to move into first place in the overall League standings. He

and became the first NHL player in 2021-22 to record a six-point game with 2-4-6 in an 8-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Jan. 31. The 26-year-old Uxbridge, Ont., native - who was held off the scoresheet in a 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers Feb. 1 - has collected 8-15-23 in 22 total outings this season, already surpassing his career totals entering the campaign (2-9-11 in 37 GP).
