The 24-year-old defenseman, who was a restricted free agent, had an arbitration hearing in Toronto on Wednesday, and the arbitrator had a 48-hour deadline to make a decision. Ceci can become an RFA on July 1, 2019.
Ceci had 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) and was minus-27 in 82 games with the Senators last season. He was coming off a two-year, $5.6 million contract signed Aug. 23, 2016.
Ottawa selected Ceci in the first round (No. 15) of the 2012 NHL Draft. He has 92 points (25 goals, 67 assists) in 366 NHL games and three assists in 25 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Senators signed restricted free agent forward Mark Stone to a
one-year, $7.35 million contract
on Friday, when he was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing.
