The forward has been out since having knee surgery March 14.
"Gabe's good," coach Jared Bednar said Thursday. "Taking steps forward. Joined the team today, obviously, for skate, and still the plan is for him to be ready for Game 1."
Landeskog is not expected to play for the Avalanche in their final two regular-season games; Colorado hosts the Nashville Predators on Thursday (9 p.m. ET; ALT, BSSO, ESPN+, NHL LIVE) and the Minnesota Wild on Friday to close out the regular season.
Landeskog has 59 points (30 goals, 29 assists) in 51 games this season. The Avalanche captain led them in goals and was fifth in points prior to the surgery.
"It's been around five, six weeks since he's been last time with the team. So I think everybody's excited to see the captain there, and we know how big part of the team he is," foward Mikko Rantanen said about Landeskog. "So it obviously makes everyone happy"
The Avalanche (56-18-6) clinched the best record in the Western Conference and will have home-ice advantage through the first three rounds of the playoffs, which begin Monday.
Rantanen, who has missed four games with an illness unrelated to COVID-19, is expected to return Thursday. The forward leads the Avalanche with 36 goals and 91 points.
"It was a high fever," Rantanen said. "So that's what put me out of the game. Now I feel good."
