Tthe three Colorado Avalanche players who tested positive for the coronavirus are feeling better, coach Jared Bednar said Thursday.

"All of our guys are doing well," Bednar said. "Some of them were even doing well before they had their test results. As far as I know they're all doing good and are back with their families and continuing to follow the guidelines given to us. Those guys were lucky that there wasn't anything too serious with their symptoms and they were able to come through it without any major complications."

One Avalanche player tested positive for coronavirus March 26, a second tested positive a day later, and a third tested positive April 7. Colorado has not released the names of the players.

The NHL extended its self-quarantine recommendation to April 30 after it paused the regular season March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.

Eight NHL players have tested positive for COVID-19, including five Ottawa Senators. The Senators also had a staff member test positive.

Bednar said he wasn't shocked the Avalanche had a few cases.

"[Given] what's going on and the number of people who are testing positive, I'm sure we all know people who have tested positive or read about people that we know who tested positive, so I can't say that surprised me," he said.

Bednar said he wasn't worried that the entire Avalanche team hasn't been tested.

"Our guys, we're giving them the information, and if they're not feeling well, we relay that information to our medical staff. In turn they'll get tested and away we go," Bednar said. "It's the same as the rest of the country and the world; not everyone is getting tested.

"Guys who have issues are getting tested; if they're not, then everyone's following the guidelines, the same as the rest of the country: self-isolation and social distancing. And they're doing part to try and stay in shape and stay healthy so they're prepared and ready to go when our season returns."

The Avalanche (42-20-8) are second in the Central Division, two points behind the first-place St. Louis Blues.
