Domi scores twice, Bean grabs GWG in OT win

SEATTLE --Jake Bean scored 55 seconds into overtime, and the Columbus Blue Jackets recovered for a 5-4 win against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday.

Bean shot blocker side from the right circle after taking a drop pass from Jakub Voracek.
"[Voracek] gave it to me ahead of them," Bean said. "They kind of messed up on the defensive side of things and they kind of ran into each other there. I had a ton of space and I just got it in. They had a guy in front of their goalie, so I just had to get past him."
Max Domi had two goals and an assist, and Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jack Roslovic each had a goal and an assist for Columbus (14-11-1), which ended a five-game road losing streak. Elvis Merzlikins made 28 saves.
"They're not always Picassos, as we say sometimes," Blue Jackets coach Brad Larsen said. "Sometimes you have to win ugly and it's funny, we get some good shifts there, and then we had some puck management issues and some different things, but that's fairly typical when you're trying so hard to get that win. We hadn't had a lot of success on the road, so we found a way. It was good."

Jaden Schwartz, Morgan Geekie and Vince Dunn scored in the third period for Seattle (9-15-3), which has lost three in a row. Philipp Grubauer made 24 saves.
"We like the way we started, even the second period with great first shifts," Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said. "The thing that our players can take a lot of pride in is coming out in the third period and playing an outstanding period and earning one point. But at the end of the day, that makes losing the extra point, not being able to finish it out in overtime, pretty hard for everybody to swallow."
Bjorkstrand gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead at 8:13 of the second period, scoring glove side from the left circle after receiving a cross-ice, backhand pass from Boone Jenner.
Roslovic made it 2-0 at 11:40 when he redirected a pass from Domi at the top of the crease.
Jared McCann cut it to 2-1 at 13:46.
Domi pushed the lead to 3-1 at 16:43 on a breakaway. He then made it 4-1 at 19:34 by knocking in a loose puck in the crease after Bjorkstrand's initial shot trickled through Grubauer.
"You got to give that team credit, they worked," Domi said. "The crowd did damage, and they found a way to get to overtime, and we would like to finish in regulation. But two points is two points. We'll take the win any way we can."

Schwartz was credited with the power-play goal that made it 4-2 at 3:42 of the third when Joonas Donskoi's shot deflected in off his body as he tried to jump out of the way.
Geekie scored 22 seconds later to cut it to 4-3, taking a pass from Mason Appleton after getting behind the Blue Jackets defense.
"I think we did a good job battling back," Geekie said. "I think it speaks a lot of our group and how we're growing as a team, how we rely on each other. … I think it's a step in the right direction."
Dunn tied it 4-4 at 15:54 from the left circle after skating into the zone off the bench.
"We just had to take a breath and just play our game," Bean said. "It's hockey and things happen. Things happen fast and they have a good crowd here and you could feel it. So yeah, we just had to take a breath. Keep it simple."
