CBJ@TBL: Hedman wins it just 10 seconds into overtime

TAMPA -- Victor Hedman scored 10 seconds into overtime to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 4-3 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Amalie Arena on Sunday.

Hedman won it quickly when he one-timed a pass by Brayden Point from the point.
"I felt like I had a lot of good looks today and wasn't able to convert," Hedman said. "It was kind of a mess off the face-off and we were able to retrieve the puck. 'Pointer' made a great play and I had some time and space. It's a good feeling."

Ondrej Palat had a goal and two assists and Point had three assists for the Lightning (32-14-2), who swept the two-game set. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 19 saves.
Eric Robinson scored twice for the Blue Jackets (15-25-10), who have lost nine in a row. Joonas Korpisalo made 23 saves but left in the third period because of a lower-body injury. Elvis Merzlikins made seven saves in relief.
"It's good to be doing the right things and make sure you're playing the right way," Robinson said. "But it's hard when you're not getting the result to keep sticking with it. I thought we've done a good job the past few games of sticking with it during tough times. I think if we keep going with it, we'll see a [positive] result soon."
Tampa Bay is third in the eight-team Discover Central Division but moved within one point of the second-place Florida Panthers and two of the Carolina Hurricanes. The top four teams will qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"For the most part, our game hasn't been too bad," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "I like the way the guys are working. We just want to finish strong. First of all, we've got to get in [to the playoffs]. We're inching closer."
Robinson's second goal of the game gave the Blue Jackets a 3-2 lead 55 seconds into the third period when he knocked in a rebound off a blocked shot.
Alex Barré-Boulet tied it 3-3 on the power-play at 2:41 of the third period with his first NHL goal, a one-timer off a cross-ice pass from Palat.
It was Barre-Boulet's eighth NHL game.
"It was a great play by 'Pally'" Barre-Boulet said. "I was wide open on the other side on the power play. I had an empty net, I just had to put it in.
"I missed a couple before tonight, but it was good to have it tonight. It's out of the way now so I don't have to think about it."

Korpisalo was injured on the sequence and left the game. Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella did not have an update.
"He played well," Tortorella said. "I think there's been some struggles in his game lately … we just stopped getting above the puck in the second and with so many odd-man rushes, that's where he gave us an opportunity to stay in the game."
Palat gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead at 11:50 of the first period when he scored from the slot off a pass by Point.
Mikhail Grigorenko
tied it 1-1 at 17:16 of the first from the high slot.
Robinson gave Columbus a 2-1 lead at 19:29 of the first period with a wraparound from below the goal line.
"I think Robinson] is awesome to play with," Blue Jackets forward Oliver Bjorkstrand said. "He brings a lot of speed. He makes sure he makes the right plays at the right times. I like how he skates with the puck and pushes the [defense] back. It's fun playing with a player like that."
Mathieu Joseph tied it 2-2 at 6:09 of the second when he finished a 2-on-1 rush.
The Lightning outshot the Blue Jackets 16-5 in the second.
"I just like the way our guys stuck with it," Cooper said. "They didn't press. They just stuck with the plan and it worked out."
