The center, who leads the NHL in points, has scored 100 five times in his seven NHL seasons.
"It's special to be able to produce in this league," the 25-year-old said before the game. "It's not an easy thing to do. I definitely recognize that for sure, and feel very grateful to be able to play and produce in this league at a high level."
He had an assist on a goal by Cody Ceci 7:24 into the first period, and scored off a Kings player 5:07 into the second period.
Edmonton (38-25-5) won 4-3 in a shootout. Forward Leon Draisaitl scored his 49th goal of the season in the victory.
"It is very impressive," Draisaitl said of McDavid. "He might have gotten 100 in his rookie season too, if he hadn't have gotten hurt (48 in 45 games). His consistency is amazing, fun to be a part of, fun to watch. It is hard to score in this league. He goes up against the best every single night. Every team tries to stop him and focuses on him the most, yet every season he gets 110, 120 points, I don't even know. But that is hard to do. It is impressive."
McDavid has scored 37 goals with 63 assists in 67 games. He is on pace to score 120 points, which would surpass his NHL high of 116 points (41 goals, 75 assists) in 2018-19.
"It's incredible," Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. "He's a phenomenal athlete that takes his craft very serious. He's proud to have reached that mark I'm sure, but as I said this morning, I think he's driven to get our team to 100 points."
McDavid has led the NHL in scoring three times: 2016-17 (100 points in 82 games), 2017-18 (108 points in 82 games), and 2020-21 (105 points in 56 games). In each of those seasons, he won the Hart Trophy voted NHL most valuable player.
The No. 1 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, McDavid has scored 674 points (232 goals, 442 assists) in 474 games.
