The Arizona Coyotes wore special #OskarStrong shirts under their jerseys on Saturday for their game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The
shirts are a show of support for Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom
, who was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a form of bone cancer, in December.
The Flyers have been wearing the shirts, made by Biscuit Tees, a company owned and operated by Kim Parent, daughter of Flyers Hall of Fame goalie Bernie Parent, since they found out the news about their teammate.
The Coyotes, who are coached by former Rick Tocchet, a Flyers forward for 11 of his 18 seasons, shared a picture of players wearing the shirts in their locker room before Saturday's game.
The picture was accompanied by a quote from Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun.
"This is something way bigger than the game, you want to see Oskar get healthy, it's way beyond hockey & we want to support. We're a small community when it comes down to stuff like this, everyone's here for each other & we're going to support him however we can," Chychrun said.
