The Chicago Cubs took a few minutes to honor a local legend when they observed a moment of silence for Stan Mikita before their game against the Washington Nationals on Friday.

Mikita, the leading scorer in the history of the Chicago Blackhawks, died Tuesday at the age of 78. Mikita played his entire 22-year NHL career with the Blackhawks and is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Mikita was a guest of the Cubs in 2008 when he sang "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" with fellow former Blackhawks Tony Esposito and Bobby Hull.
