Jim Nill signed a two-year contract Monday to remain general manager of the Dallas Stars through the 2025-26 season.

Nill is entering his 11th season with Dallas. He is the longest serving GM in franchise history.

"Jim has proven himself to be one of the best general managers in the NHL," Stars owner Tom Gaglardi said. "He has meticulously built a team through free agency, trades and the NHL Draft that's among the best in the League, while also ensuring that the Stars are championship contenders for years to come. He'll be able to continue his vision of working toward our goal of bringing another Stanley Cup to the state of Texas."

Nill won the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award last season, when the Stars were 47-21-14 and finished second in the Central Division with 108 points. They reached the Western Conference Final, losing in six games to the Vegas Golden Knights in the best-of-7 series.

He was also a finalist for the GM of the Year Award in 2015-16 and 2019-20.

Dallas is 403-280-98 and has reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs six times under Nill's leadership. The Stars reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2020, when they lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.

"My family and I are grateful to Tom Gaglardi for his commitment to the organization and giving me every resource available to build this team," Nill said. "I'm fortunate to have an incredible team of individuals alongside me that have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to help build our team into what it is today. I'm excited to continue my work in developing a winning culture and reaching our shared goal of winning the Stanley Cup."
