NASHVILLE -- The Dallas Stars scored two goals in the final 15 seconds of the third period in a 3-2 comeback win against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday.
Craig Smith scored with 15 seconds remaining to tie it 2-2 on a rebound in the slot with goalie Scott Wedgewood pulled for an extra attacker. It was the first point in 16 games for Smith, who played nine seasons with Nashville from 2011-20.
"I think first and foremost, we've got to get the puck in, and we've got to keep it in and try to create a little bit of pressure in some areas," Smith said. "We've just got to break down. It was kind of a scramble. Stayed hungry on it, we got a nice bounce out front and I was able to get a good stick on it."
Jani Hakanpää then scored with four seconds remaining on a shot from the point that got through traffic and past Juuse Saros for the 3-2 final.
Evgenii Dadonov scored, and Scott Wedgewood made 19 saves for the Stars (20-8-4), who extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1).
"We didn't have our best tonight for the first 40 minutes, but we found a way to get it done," Dallas forward Matt Duchene said. "I thought in the third period we were the better team. We kind of turned the game. [Saros] is such a good goalie, you need some decent bounces to get it. Luckily we got one there to tie it up, and then [Hakanpaa] with a [slap shot]."
