Stars win three in a row

PHILADELPHIA -- Keith Yandle tied the NHL record by playing his 964th consecutive game in the Philadelphia Flyers' 3-1 loss to the Dallas Stars at Wells Fargo Center on Monday.

Yandle is tied with Doug Jarvis and can pass him when he plays his first shift for the Flyers at the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
"Your teammates, the guys that you play with, guys that you play against, when they congratulate you and tell you they're proud of you. It hits home," Yandle said.
Ivan Provorov scored, and Carter Hart made 32 saves for the Flyers (13-21-8), who have lost 12 straight games (0-9-3), tying the longest stretch without a win in their history (0-8 with four ties from Feb. 24-March 16, 1999).
Philadelphia has scored two goals or fewer in nine of the 12 games during their skid.
"I thought we played a pretty solid game," Provorov said. "Like the previous games, we just aren't able to find a way to score more than two goals. ... We'll get out of this eventually, and hopefully it's going to be tomorrow."
Roope Hintz had a goal and an assist for the Stars (21-16-2), who have won three straight games. Jake Oettinger made 26 saves.

DAL@PHI: Hintz cashes in on breakaway

Oettinger had allowed nine goals on 36 shots and been pulled from his previous two starts, most recently in a 5-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 18. It was his first win since Jan. 14.
"I think I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous," he said. "Everyone has a conscious and they get those bad thoughts that sneak into your head. I had those today. Just tried to block those out. End of the day, I'm playing in the NHL, it's a dream come true. Just want to have fun and go out there and lay it all out there and see what happens. ... They scored a weird one, thought maybe it could be another one of those nights, not getting the bounces, but we shut it down real well in the third and feels really good right now."
Hintz put the Stars ahead 1-0 at 17:46 of the first period. Jason Robertson knocked down Travis Konecny's pass in Dallas' zone and passed the puck ahead to Hintz, who broke in alone and scored.
Provorov tied it 1-1 at 12:06 of the second period when his centering pass from the left side deflected in off the skate of Stars defenseman John Klingberg.
Jacob Peterson made it 2-1 at 16:35 of the third period with a shot from the left side that went under the crossbar. A review by the NHL Situation Room confirmed the puck crossed the goal line.
"Jacob is sneaky good," Stars coach Rick Bowness said. "You watch him get the puck and he hangs onto the puck and he tries to make plays. He doesn't panic with it, he's very good with it, his head is up. He's a smart hockey player. That's one thing we noticed form the first day of training camp, he has great hockey sense and I love his poise with the puck."

DAL@PHI: Peterson puts in Radulov's backdoor pass

Joe Pavelski scored an empty-net goal to make it 3-1 at 18:23.
"We had some opportunities in the offensive zone," Philadelphia coach Mike Yeo said. "We didn't have enough of those opportunities. I think there's still some opportunities that were there that we're missing the net. We're not shooting and those pucks ... could turn into a secondary opportunity. The goal that we scored, it's just throwing a puck into the blue paint, and I certainly think that we could do a lot more of that. You have to have that mindset.
"We've got some skilled players out of the lineup, so we have to have a little bit more of a score a dirty goal mindset, and obviously when it's time to execute, you have a chance to make the play, and you got to be able to not give into the pressure or squeeze a stick too tight."
NOTES: Hintz has scored seven points (three goals, four assists) during a four-game point streak. ... The game was the first without a penalty for either team since the Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets played a penalty-free game March 13. ... Stars forward Denis Gurianov was benched for the final 9:38 of the third period. "Wasn't very good," Bowness said. "Simple as that. Didn't deserve to be out there. Put Riley [Damiani] on that line and that line started to go." ... Dallas forward Tanner Kero played 10:30 in return from NHL COVID-19 protocol. He had missed three games. ... Nick Seeler, a defenseman, was shifted to forward for the Flyers for the first time in the NHL and played 8:25.
