DAL-VGK

LAS VEGAS --Radek Faksa scored a natural hat trick in 6:46 in the second period, and Ben Bishop made 34 saves for the Dallas Stars in a 3-0 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday.
"Those were huge goals for us," Faksa said of his first NHL hat trick. "For sure, I'm happy with the goals. The most important thing, though, is the team win."

Faksa scored his second and third goals eight seconds apart late in the second to lift Dallas (13-10-1) to its fourth win in five games. He is the second player in Stars/Minnesota North Stars franchise history to score twice in eight seconds or less, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Bill Goldsworthy scored twice in seven seconds for Minnesota at the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 27, 1971.
It was Bishop's second shutout of the season and 21st in the NHL.
"Those two goals in the last minute in the second period were huge. … Faksa was great tonight," Bishop said.

Faksa scored his first goal off a pass by defenseman Dan Hamhuis from behind the net at 4-on-4 to put Dallas ahead 1-0 at 12:55.
He scored his second off Gemel Smith's backhand pass from behind the net at 19:33 to make it 2-0. He completed the hat trick at 19:41 when he one-timed a pass from Antoine Roussel on a 3-on-1 to make it 3-0.
It was the first loss in six games for Vegas (15-7-1), which had won eight in a row at home since a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 13. The Golden Knights, shut out for the first time in their history, entered Tuesday leading the Western Conference in scoring (3.68 goals per game).
"I don't think we had enough traffic in front of [the net]," Golden Knights forward Alex Tuch said. "I thought [Bishop] saw a lot of pucks, some of the wide-angle shots he was taking were very lackadaisical. He's a big body and he doesn't have to move as much. ... You just gotta find ways to score."
Malcolm Subban allowed a season-high three goals on 30 shots in his first loss with the Golden Knights.
"[Dallas] is a good team and obviously they showed it," said Subban, who is 4-1-0 since being claimed off waivers from the Boston Bruins on Oct. 5. "They're gifted offensively, and they came out and made some plays."

They said it

"It's definitely special. It's pretty neat to see a player like that who works hard, plays the game the right way. For [Radek Faksa] to get some success ... knowing that feeling, it's a good one." -- Stars forward Jamie Benn
"I thought tonight we couldn't get to the net. I think their D did a real good job tonight, boxing us out, keeping us away from the front of the net. We had some scoring chances, but not a whole lot of great ones. We probably had six or seven minutes where we made some mistakes, and it cost us, but overall I thought we played a good game." -- Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant
