DAL@WPG: Connor wires shot past Bishop

WINNIPEG --Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves for the Winnipeg Jets in a 5-1 win against the Dallas Stars at Bell MTS Place on Sunday.

Josh Morrissey and Bryan Little each had a goal and an assist, and Adam Lowry, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Connor also scored for the Jets (26-13-2), who had lost three of their past four games and had scored one goal or fewer in four of their past five.
"I liked the way we played tonight, and if we can continue to build on this and play this way, this is where we want to be," Hellebuyck said.

Alexander Radulov scored for the Stars (22-17-4), who have scored two goals or fewer in eight of their past 10 games. Ben Bishop made 25 saves.
"It wasn't a bad game," Bishop said. "I don't think the score reflected how we played. It's not the worst thing in the world, but obviously, you want to come away with some points."
Radulov gave Dallas a 1-0 lead on the power play, deflecting a point shot at 1:56 of the second period. Tyler Seguin got his 300th NHL assist on the goal.
"They had a really good start, especially the first four or five shifts they were rolling pretty good and had us on our heels," Little said. "It was one of those times that even though they opened the scoring, we were confident going into the rest of the game that we were going to come back."

DAL@WPG: Lowry buries own rebound in front

Lowry tied it 1-1 at 2:56, scoring on a rebound in the slot, and Myers put Winnipeg in front 2-1 on a wraparound at 18:56.
"We had a pretty good 40 (minutes) even though we were down by one," Stars captain Jamie Benn said. "I thought we dominated most of the second period. Come out in the third and you don't execute and it's just a little simple play and it's in the back of your net."

Connor scored his first goal in 11 games to make it 3-1 at 1:15 of the third period. Morrissey made it 4-1 with an empty-net goal while shorthanded at 16:30, and Little scored on the power play at 19:42 to extend the lead to 5-1.
"I think when we take a look at that game, we have to realize how we got back to a lot of the little things," Myers said. "The forwards were quick down low, making quick passes, making quick plays. It was right from the opening face-off. So we've got to realize what gave us that success and keep it going."

They said it

"I thought we played a good road game. They make one play more than us in the first two periods and then we block a shot and it goes right to Connor and he makes a great shot to make it 3-1. Then we're chasing the game. I liked the way we continued to compete. We had some chances, but we weren't able to get close." -- Stars coach Jim Montgomery
"Well, the media puts a lot of pressure on us. Thank God there's Toronto and they throw a lot of pressure on (the Maple Leafs) so we don't have as much. We came into this year and we made huge strides last year to go into the Western Conference Final. We really turned the corner and we wanted to establish ourselves as a really strong franchise and a team that can compete every night. Moving forward, you have to handle that pressure because there is going to be pressure to win every night. It's our job to perform and to perform under those circumstances. Anytime you can emulate that in the regular season, it bodes well to prepare you for the second half, the stretch run and come playoff time." -- Jets forward Adam Lowry
