The Dallas Stars will host the 2021 IIHF Under-18 World Championship.

The 10-team tournament, held annually since 1999 for the top under-18 players in the world, is scheduled for April 26 to May 6.
"The Dallas Stars organization is honored to be selected as host for one of the most prestigious hockey tournaments in the world," Stars president and CEO Brad Alberts said. "We would like to thank USA Hockey for affording us the opportunity to have the next generation of hockey players showcased in North Texas.
Preliminary-round games in Group A featuring Sweden, Canada, Belarus, Latvia and Switzerland, will be played at Children's Health StarCenter in Plano, Texas. Games for Group B, the United States, Russia, the Czech Republic, Finland and Germany, are scheduled at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
The event had been scheduled to be held in Ann Arbor and Plymouth, Michigan. A spokesperson for USA Hockey said the event was moved because of the opportunity to work with an NHL team for tournament support and logistics.
"We're excited to partner with the Stars to bring this world-class event to Texas and the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area," USA Hockey executive director Pat Kelleher said. "The Stars have done a remarkable job with the facilities they own and operate and furthering interest in the game, and we're really looking forward to showcasing future stars of the NHL in Texas."
It will be the third time the tournament is held in the United States. It was played in Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota in 2009, and in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 2016.
The 2020 tournament, which also was scheduled to be played in Michigan, was canceled due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
When the event was last held in Sweden in 2019, the host country defeated Russia to finish in first place.
That event featured 34 players who were chosen in the first round of the 2019 or 2020 NHL Draft, among them New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes, the No. 1 pick in the 2019 Draft. It also included some top prospects for the 2021 NHL Draft, including United States forward Matthew Beniers, Sweden goalie Jesper Wallstedt and Finland forward Aatu Raty, each of whom received an A rating from NHL Central Scouting in its January players to watch list.
