Sabres Hamlin tees

The Buffalo Sabres sent their love and support to Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin on Tuesday.

The Sabres wore custom T-shirts in honor of the National Football League safety before their game against the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena.

The T-shirts read "Love for 3," Hamlin's jersey number, in the Bills' red and blue colors.

"It was a collaboration between Kyle Okposo and some other players and some people on staff," Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams said. "We turned it around quick. It's a little thing that can just show that we're thinking about them."

During warmups, the Sabres taped up signs on the glass that read "One Buffalo." Fans in the stands also held up special signs in support.

Prior to puck drop, a moment of silence was held in honor of Hamlin.

Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after a hit on the field during the Bills game at the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday.

"It was a tough day for all of us. As a community, we care," Adams said. "We care about each other in Buffalo and as organizations we care about each other, and I know our players felt that this morning and we're all just thinking about Damar. And I also want to make sure I say 'thank you' to the Washington Capitals organization for them just having that little moment there before the game and also just understanding this is a tough time, especially in the Buffalo community."

On Thursday, the Billl announced Hamlin had made "remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours. While critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neuroligically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress."

On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Penguins wore blue and gold ribbons before their game against the Vegas Golden Knights in support of Hamlin, who wore the colors when he attended Pitt and Central Catholic.
