Danton Heinen agreed to a one-year, $1 million contract to remain with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old forward was an unrestricted free agent after the Penguins did not give him a qualifying offer.
Heinen had 33 points, including an NHL career-high 18 goals, in 76 games last season, his first with Pittsburgh after he signed as a free agent on July 29, 2021. He also scored three goals in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by the Boston Bruins in the fourth round (No. 116) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Heinen has 154 points (62 goals, 92 assists) in 348 regular-season games with the Bruins, Anaheim Ducks and Penguins, and 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 40 playoff games.
