Engelland had 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) in 74 regular-season games with Vegas last season and one assist in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games. He had an NHL career-high 23 points (five goals, 18 assists) in 79 games in 2017-18 to help the Golden Knights advance to the Stanley Cup Final after he was selected in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.
Engelland told the Golden Knights website other teams offered him more money, but that he didn't want to play anywhere else.
"There are other things that factor in at this stage and this is the best situation for me and my family," said Engelland, who has lived in Las Vegas for several years, having played for the ECHL team there in 2003-04 and 2004-05. "This is where I want to be."
Selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round (No. 194) of the 2000 NHL Draft, Engelland has 121 points (29 goals, 92 assists) in 622 regular-season games with the Golden Knights, Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins, and five assists in 55 NHL playoff games.

The Golden Knights on Tuesday also traded forward David Clarkson and a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft to the Toronto Maple Leafs for goalie Garret Sparks.
"Ever since the expansion draft, I've been interested in the program that Vegas is building in the desert and how they're bringing hockey to a nontraditional market, and people are buying in and people love it, and they've been super successful and they've acquired a lot of great NHL talent," Sparks said Wednesday. "Just to be added to the organization, as much as you can say it's a dream come true to join a team that started playing two years ago, it is a bit of a dream realized."
Sparks was 8-9-1 with a 3.15 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage and one shutout in 20 games (17 starts) last season. The 26-year-old was replaced by
Michael Hutchinson
as Toronto's backup on April 5 in order to work with goaltending coach Steve Briere and Jon Elkin, a goaltending consultant for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, but returned to the Maple Leafs five days later.
Sparks did not play in the postseason. He backed up Frederik Andersen the first two games of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Boston Bruins before being replaced by Hutchinson for the rest of the series, won by Boston in seven games.
Clarkson has not played in the NHL since 2015-16, when he had four points (two goals, two assists) in 23 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets before a back injury ended his career. The 35-year-old has one season remaining on a seven-year contract he signed with Toronto on July 5, 2013.
