"It's one of the things I try to pride myself on, is helping this team win and trying to find the net," Gaudreau said. "Everyone did that tonight. It was great. A lot of help from a lot of different players. [Smith] played great back in net. It was a great team win."
Anthony Mantha had a goal and two assists, and Martin Frk and Frans Nielsen scored for the Red Wings (8-8-1). Petr Mrazek made 28 saves.
"I think we did a lot of good things," Mrazek said. "We had the opportunity to come back, we just didn't quite get it done, obviously. But we made some big mistakes that cost us big-time."
Jagr scored when he took a pass from Gaudreau on a 2-on-1 and shot over Mrazek to put Calgary up 5-2 at 17:01 of the second period. The goal came 1:12 after Nielsen made it 4-2.
"[Jagr]'s first of many … first goal for the team," Gaudreau said. "I was pretty fortunate to be a part of that goal. It's pretty special."
Mantha scored on a rebound with 3.3 seconds remaining to make it 5-3.
Gaudreau scored into an empty net at 17:37 of the third period. He has four goals and six assists in a six-game point streak, and points in 10 of the past 11 games (five goals, 10 assists).
"With his talent he can win the scoring [title] every year," Jagr said. "It's just up to him. He's so quick. He's so good one-on-one. He always keeps skating. It's tough to shut him down one-on-one. When he's skating like this it's kind of impossible. If you double-team him he'll always find somebody open."
Jankowski scored his first NHL goal to put Calgary up 1-0 at 9:15 of the first period. Jagr had the primary assist.
