Hedman assists on all 3 Lightning goals to fuel win

TAMPA-- Brian Elliott made 22 saves for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 3-1 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Amalie Arena on Friday.

Mikhail Sergachev, Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos scored for the Lightning (36-12-6), who have won six of seven. Victor Hedman had three assists.
Tampa Bay is 6-0-1 in the second of back-to-back games and 1-6-0 in the first. It lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 on Thursday.
"It's weird because we haven't done that great on the front ends, but we've really saved the back to back on the back end, which isn't the usual," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "It was good to turn the page on last night. I thought we did an admirable job. The guys played hard."

DET@TBL: Point redirects Hedman's shot in for PPG

Robby Fabbri scored for the Red Wings (24-25-6), who have split their past 10 games. Alex Nedeljkovic made 35 saves.
"I thought we came out and we were the better team in the first (period)," Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. "I thought they were the better team in the second. I thought the third was kind of back and forth. They scored twice on the power play when it mattered and we didn't. That was the difference in the game."
Point gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead at 6:43 of the second period with a power-play goal, a redirection off a shot by Hedman.
The Lightning held the Red Wings without a shot on goal for the first 11:02 of the period and outshot them 19-6.
"Our attempts were in the 30s for the period and it hasn't been that way because of the lack of O-zone time," Tampa Bay defenseman Ryan McDonagh said. "It didn't result in goals tonight, but it put us on the power play and we found a way there. We just kind of wore them down in the zone."

DET@TBL: Fabbri buries trickling puck for equalizer

Fabbri tied it 1-1 at 13:05 after Elliott, playing for the first time since Feb. 11, failed to control a shot from Moritz Seider.
"We had some chances, a lot of 2-on-1's tonight," Detroit captain Dylan Larkin said. "We've got to be a little more selfish and shoot the puck. It's frustrating right now. It's a tough feeling, but we have to bounce back because we've got [the Florida Panthers] tomorrow and they're equally as dangerous."

DET@TBL: Sergachev scores post and in for PPG

Sergachev gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead at 10:21 of the third period. With four seconds remaining on the power play, the defenseman scored with a shot to the near post with Corey Perry providing the screen.
"They get two power-play goals tonight, we get none," Larkin said. "That's kind of the story of the game."
Stamkos made it 3-1 with an empty-net goal at 19:58.
"I don't think we, to a man, put out the effort that we wanted to [against the Penguins]," Elliott said. "Winning one at home before you go on the road for a while is a good feeling. Sometimes all you need to get on another little run is that good feeling when you come off the ice."
