NJD@BOS: Blackwood uses skate to deny tying goal

Mackenzie Blackwood preserved his first shutout of the season by no more than the tip of a skate blade.

The New Jersey Devils goalie kicked out a deflected, bouncing, spinning puck with under 10 seconds to play in a 1-0 win against the Boston Bruins on Sunday.
Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron threw one on net and, with the extra skater, there was plenty of traffic in front of Blackwood. Devils defenseman P.K. Subban blocked the shot, but the puck ricocheted high in the air. Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy batted it down and it appeared at different points to hit Subban again, be almost brushed by Bruins forward Nick Rithcie and at least graze Devils forward Jesper Bratt.
Blackwood stopped the potential tying goal just before it completely crossed the goal line. Replay review upheld the referee's no-goal signal on the ice.
It was his 40th, and easily most impressive, save of the game.
