CHI@NJD: Hughes makes slick move and nets backhander

What good is it holding a hockey stick when the game is already over?

New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes put that into practice immediately on Friday after he scored the game-winning goal in overtime against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Hughes scored on a gorgeous backhand after a pretty deke that got the entire Blackhawks defense to bite.
Hughes said after the game that he couldn't help but get caught up in the moment as the Prudential Center went wild.
"That was hilarious, you know... I don't know really, what happened there," Hughes said. "It's great to play in front of full barn again and seeing all those jerseys, all those Devils fans, it was crazy, loud tonight. For us, pro athletes, you want to play in front of a full crowd and it was special to have them back in the building."
After a move like that in a situation like that with fans going that crazy, it won't get better for that particular piece of lumber. Might as well just retire it on the spot.
