Phaneuf, MacArthur ruled out for the season

Ottawa Senators defenseman Dion Phaneuf and forward Clarke MacArthur will each miss the rest of the regular season, the Senators announced Monday.
Phaneuf has missed the past two games because of an oblique injury and soreness in his right foot. Initial X-rays on the foot were negative but further testing revealed a hairline fracture. The injury, sustained while blocking a shot in the Senators' 4-0 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 12, will not impact his summer training regimen.

The Senators acquired Phaneuf as part of a nine-player trade with the Maple Leafs on Feb. 9. He has one goal and eight points in 20 games with Ottawa, and four goals and 32 points in 71 games this season.
MacArthur played four games this season because of a concussion. Though he passed a baseline test and is medically cleared to play, a decision to sideline him until the start of the 2016-17 season was made in conjunction with Senators doctors and management.
MacArthur has 133 goals and 304 points in 548 NHL games with the Buffalo Sabres, Atlanta Thrashers, Maple Leafs and Senators.
