Each week, Discover will feature a different youth coach as part of its Exceptional Community Coaches series. In continued support of local hockey communities, Discover is making a $2,000 donation to each of the Learn to Play programs this season. This week, a look at Florida Panthers representative Meghan Huertas of the Florida Panthers Learn to Play program.

Name of coach: Meghan Huertas
Name of program: Florida Panthers Learn To Play
About the coach: Huertas was born and raised in South Florida. She grew up playing boys hockey down there. She was fortunate enough to play Division I college hockey at the University of Minnesota Duluth, as well as professionally in the NWHL (now known as the PHF) for the Connecticut Whale. Now she is coaching where she learned the game, which is really special. It means a lot to be able to give back to the hockey community, especially down here where she grew up. She said she remembers being that same kid at this very same ice rink.
About the program: The IceDen has been participating in LTP since its exception and graduates over 200 players from the program each year.
Donation meaning: We will look to use this money to acquire some new equipment to donate for use in on-ice programming
