The 40-year-old goalie was 9-6-4 with a 3.10 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 23 games (19 starts) with the Ducks last season as the backup to John Gibson, who was 20-26-5 in 51 games (51 starts).
Selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round (No. 138) of the 1999 NHL Draft, Miller is 387-281-85 with one tie and has a 2.62 GAA, a .915 save percentage and 44 shutouts in 780 games (758 starts) in 17 NHL seasons with the Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues and Sabres.
Miller is first all-time in wins among United States-born goalies and 15th on the NHL all-time list.
Miller tweeted Wednesday night that because of the coroanvirus pandemic, which caused the NHL to pause its regular season March 12, he tried out retirement for nine months, but "wasn't feeling it."
The Ducks, who finished the 2019-20 season with a 29-33-9 record (.472 points percentage), were one of seven NHL teams to not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They are scheduled to open training camp for the 2020-21 season Dec. 31.
