It turns out Milano planted the idea in Zegras' head.
"I think (Ducks forward Rickard Rakell) passed it to me below the net and I had some time, so this guy (Milano) was calling for a Michigan so I picked it up and passed it to him, so it was pretty funny how it all worked out," Zegras said.
Zegras said he intended to pass it to Milano the whole time instead of trying to score himself, though he's never had any success in previous attempts.
"I was sold on the pass," Zegras said. "Once I heard him yell 'Michigan' to me, I kind of wanted to get it to him. Like I still can't believe it worked. It's pretty funny. I've tried it a couple times and haven't even come close and for him to whack it out of the air and keep it under the crossbar is pretty incredible."
After the goal, Milano's eighth of the season, he skated into a silent celebration with Zegras.
"He said nothing, I think," Milano said. "He was in shock. I was in shock as well. Actually, not really, I kind of expected it from him. So, zero shock."
