Eddie-Olczyk

Eddie Olczyk will be part of the NBCSN broadcast when the Chicago Blackhawks play the St. Louis Blues at Scottrade Center on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET; NHL.TV).
Olczyk said Aug. 8 that he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He is six weeks into a 24-week chemotherapy regimen.

"Three treatments in. Nine to go," he told USA Today on Monday. "We are a quarter of the way into the race and we are grinding it out."
Olczyk said he also will be part of the WGN broadcast for the Blackhawks game against the Edmonton Oilers at United Center on Thursday (8:30 p.m. ET; NHL.TV) and will work other games as his health allows.
"We have some dates that we have highlighted and hopefully I will be strong to do the job," Olczyk said. "If I am not feeling good, I just have to be honest with everyone and tell them I can't do it."
Olczyk said focusing on work will help him get through his treatment.
"Doing what I love to do will help me pass the time," he said. "Looking at the calendar hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month gets a little long."
