The Edmonton Oilers got an assist from their furry friends during their annual skills competition Wednesday.
Oilers players' dogs participated in the Ruff-Ruff Relay held on the ice at Rogers Place. The participants were Jasper Ryan, forward Derek Ryan's pup, Hugo Ceci [defenseman Cody Ceci], Potter Shore [forward Devin Shore], Ollie Bouchard [defenseman Evan Bouchard], Jaffa Puljujarvi [forward Jesse Puljujarvi] and Lenny McDavid [center Connor McDavid].
The Oilers' pups started at the goal crease, where they ran a timed sprint to center ice to their dads, who were awaiting them with treats. Most of the dogs grasped the concept of the competition except Jasper, who needed an extra boost from his dad to make it to center ice.
