Noah Dobson scored 3:52 into overtime to give the New York Islanders a 3-2 win against the Edmonton Oilers at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on Saturday.

Dobson took a pass from Mathew Barzal at center ice and scored on a wrist shot for his first overtime goal.
"It definitely feels great," Dobson said. "Any time you get a chance to contribute like that in a big game and get a big win, especially on a day like today, it was a great atmosphere, the crowd was buzzing, so I was really happy to score a big one. I'll definitely remember that one."
Anders Lee and Anthony Beauvillier scored, and Ilya Sorokin made 17 saves for the Islanders (10-12-6), who trailed 2-1 entering the third period.

EDM@NYI: Draisaitl fakes pass and scores

Leon Draisaitl scored his NHL-leading 25th goal, and Mikko Koskinen made 26 saves for the Oilers (18-12-2), who have lost three straight games and two straight in overtime (6-5 at the New Jersey Devils on Friday).
"I thought we were pretty good again," Draisaitl said. "In the third, we dipped a little bit, but other than that in the second, they had nothing. It's frustrating for sure, but you have to take the point and move on."
Islanders coach Barry Trotz was not on the bench for personal reasons (non-COVID-19 related). Assistants John Gruden and goalie coach Piero Greco were placed in COVID-19 protocol prior to the game, and assistant Lane Lambert ran the bench.
"I'm very proud," Lambert said. "They're a good hockey team over there, and I though our guys were completely committed to get the job done."

EDM@NYI: Beauvillier ties it up in 3rd

Beauvillier scored on a rebound at 2:23 of the third period to tie it 2-2. The Islanders outshot the Oilers 14-2 in the period.
"I think we were really solid," Lee said. "They had a push in the second, and we kind of weathered the storm a little bit and they took the lead. I think all in all, that's a good 60 minutes. That's a good hockey team over there; they have a couple of the best players in the world. We knew what we had to do tonight: to stay above them as much as we could. And our defensive play and goaltender were really good."
Darnell Nurse made it 2-1 at 17:13 of the second scoring on a bouncing puck in the slot following a scramble in front of Sorokin.
Lee scored on the power play at 16:40 of the first period to give New York a 1-0 lead. He swept a rebound in off a shot from Kieffer Bellows.
Draisaitl scored 31 seconds into the second period to tie it 1-1. His centering pass hit Islanders forward Matt Martin's skates and bounced into the net.
"It's just the consistency, first through the third," Nurse said. "When we're on our game, you can put us up there against anybody. But when you put yourself in a position to let teams off the hook, then you're not going to have success on a nightly basis in this league. The teams and players are just too good.

EDM@NYI: Dobson complete comeback in OT

"Both situations (including at New Jersey) you're going into the third period with the lead. So we're going into situations where both games we had the lead in the third period. You have to keep that going. You don't want to lose these games."
The Oilers, who play at the New York Rangers on Monday, have lost nine of their past 11 (2-7-2).
"It was a hard-fought game," Edmonton coach Dave Tippett said. "That's a tough turnaround when you have back-to-back games in the afternoon. Our guys competed hard right until the end. You can tell we were tired a little bit in the third period, but we hung in there. I give our guys a lot of credit, they competed hard, they played a style they had to play to give ourselves a chance to win, and it's unfortunate we couldn't get the extra point."
NOTES: Oilers center Connor McDavid had an assist to extend his point streak to five games (three goals, five assists). … Draisaitl has scored at least 25 goals in six straight seasons. McDavid needs six more goals this season to accomplish the feat. … The Islanders won their first game after regulation this season; they had been 0-6 in overtime and the shootout.
