EDM@OTT: Bouchard buries wrist shot inside far post

OTTAWA-- Mikko Koskinen made 40 saves for the Edmonton Oilers in a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Tuesday.

"They threw a lot of pucks at the net in the third period," Oilers coach Dave Tippett said of the Senators, who outshot Edmonton 16-7 in the final 20 minutes. "[Koskinen] made a couple of real key saves at the right time to preserve the two points for us."
Tyson Barrie scored the game-winning goal, and Jujhar Khaira had two assists for the Oilers (8-7-0).

EDM@OTT: Barrie wires a shot into the back of the net

Edmonton forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each had his point streak end at 10 games.
"Obviously, Connor and Leon take a big chunk of [the offense]," Tippett said. "But we can have secondary scoring, whether it's the other two [forward] lines or our [defensemen]. That's a huge help."
The Oilers swept the back-to-back with the Senators, also winning 2-1 on Monday. Edmonton is 4-0-0 against Ottawa this season.
"It's tough," Barrie said when asked how difficult it is to win against the same team four times in a row. "They played us hard, really hard the last two games. They're obviously a good, hard-working, young team. They beat [the Montreal Candiens on Thursday], so anybody can beat anybody."
Evgenii Dadonov and Connor Brown scored for the Senators (2-11-1), who have lost 12 of their past 13 games (1-11-1). Matt Murray had an assist and made nine saves in relief of Marcus Hogberg, who was pulled after allowing the third goal.
"I thought right from the get-go we were jumping," Ottawa coach D.J. Smith said. "I thought in the third period we had a great push. I thought we were probably the better team all the way through the night."

EDM@OTT: Nurse hammers one past Hogberg

The Senators took a 1-0 lead 26 seconds into the first period when Brown tipped a point shot from Nikita Zaitsev.
Darnell Nurse's slap shot from the top of the left face-off circle beat Hogberg five-hole to tie it 1-1 at 4:11. Bouchard scored with a wrist shot from the right point to make it 2-1 at 17:19.
"It helps a lot," Bouchard said when asked what goals do for the confidence of the defensemen. "Not just on the back end, but I think it helps the forwards out too, knowing that we'll get shots through to the net and try to help contribute in any way we can. But when you get goals from the defense, I think it's just an extra bonus for the team."

EDM@OTT: Dadonov buries the puck in all alone

Barrie's wrist shot went bottom left as Hogberg was sliding across the crease to make it 3-1 at 3:53 of the second. Each of the Edmonton goals was scored by a defenseman.
Dadonov took a stretch pass from Mike Reilly and scored with a snap shot on a breakaway to make it 3-2 at 1:19 of the third period. Murray passed the puck to Reilly from behind the net for an assist.
"Look at the positives," Senators forward Brady Tkachuk said. "It was a [heck] of a third period."
NOTES: Oilers defensemen have scored 11 goals this season, tied for best in the NHL with the Canadiens. … The Senators have scored two or fewer goals nine times this season.
