Elias Pettersson

VANCOUVER --Elias Pettersson could return from a concussion during the Vancouver Canucks' two-game road trip that starts Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights (10 p.m. ET; ATTSN-RM, SN360, NHL.TV), but forward Brock Boeser is day-to-day with a sore groin.

Pettersson, who leads the Canucks in scoring with eight points (five goals, three assists) despite missing Vancouver's past four games, was back at practice Tuesday for the first time since sustaining a concussion against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 13.
"I am feeling very good. [It was] nice to come back with the team," Pettersson said.
The 19-year-old rookie center didn't take turns on a regular line but will travel with the team for the back-to-back trip that concludes against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.
"Maybe, maybe not," Pettersson said when asked if he could play Wednesday. "This is my first practice with the team, and I'm taking it day by day. The medical team here helped me a lot and [said] should take it day by day and rather rest one extra day."
Pettersson won't rush back, even with the Canucks struggling to score without him.
"To be honest, it [stinks] to not play games and I want to get back as quick as possible," he said. "I'd rather rest some extra days so I am fully prepared when I get back."
Panthers defenseman Mike Matheson was suspended for two games for the hit that injured Pettersson.
Pettersson said he expected to get hit after passing the puck behind the Florida net but declined to comment on Matheson following through and throwing him to the ice.
"He sent me a text and apologized," Pettersson said. "That was a very good move by him. I respect it."
Boeser, who is tied for third on the Canucks with six points (two goals, four assists) in nine games, played in a 5-2 loss against the Washington Capitals on Monday and finished the game. He didn't practice on Tuesday but will travel to Vegas with the team.
"Sore groin, day to day," coach Travis Green said. "I think it was bothering him a game ago; Winnipeg game (on Oct. 18). We'll know more tomorrow."
The Canucks called up forward Darren Archibald from Utica of the American Hockey League on Tuesday for the road trip. Archibald, 28, had nine points (four goals, five assists) in 27 games with the Canucks last season.
"We need an extra body," Green said.
