Lindros expresses admiration for Bergeron, Bruins on NHL @TheRink podcast

Eric Lindros is fascinated with Patrice Bergeron and the way the Boston Bruins center plays the game.

Lindros, the Hockey Hall of Famer who rejoined the Philadelphia Flyers last week as an ambassador, said on the latest episode of the NHL @TheRink podcast, hosted by senior writer Dan Rosen and Senior Director of Editorial Shawn P. Roarke, that he's become a fan of watching Bergeron because of his dominance with the puck.

"He's so good, he really is," Lindros said. "Yeah, he's got [David] Pastrnak to finish it, and [Brad] Marchand is having an incredible time, an incredible year. [Marchand is] really a fantastic player in his own right, but to watch Bergeron do all the little stuff that he does, starting shifts with possession with face-off wins, he just really never gives up the puck. If you're going to get it off Bergeron, something really has to happen. He's not one to just give a freebie. He's a fantastic guy to watch."

Lindros, who lives in Toronto with his wife and three kids, said he's seen a lot of the Bruins in the past few seasons because of their rivalry with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2013, 2018 and 2019, with each Eastern Conference first-round series going seven games.

"I think they wear people out," Lindros said of the Bruins, who lead the NHL with 100 points through 70 games this season. "I think that pack mentality that they have wears teams out. I still think that there is a bit of fear that people have when the opposition isn't afraid to make big hits, and Boston will go out of their way to do it and then back up the player that does."

Lindros had positive reviews for the Flyers, who are second in the Metropolitan Division, one point behind the Washington Capitals. He also talked about his new role as a Flyers ambassador, his plans for the future, and being a hockey dad now to 5-year-old Carl and 4-year-old twins Ryan and Sophie.

Rosen and Roarke also discussed what lies ahead for the NHL to possibly restart the season, which has been paused since March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus; debated the idea of holding the 2020 NHL Draft prior to the restart of the season and all that would entail; and hit on some of the news in the League, including Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara's future and the health of Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos.
