Erik Cernak will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday.
The Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman is facing discipline for elbowing Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo on Thursday. The incident occurred along the wall at the Lightning blue line with 1:37 remaining in the third period of Buffalo's 6-5 overtime win at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Cernak did not receive a penalty on the play. Okposo stayed on the bench but did not take another shift. The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: Elbowing. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
