The Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman is facing discipline for elbowing Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo on Thursday.
The incident occurred along the wall at the Lightning blue line with 1:37 remaining in the third period of Buffalo's 6-5 overtime win at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Cernak did not receive a penalty on the play.
Okposo stayed on the bench but did not take another shift.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: Elbowing. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
