"SportsCenter" anchor John Buccigross and NHL Network analyst Kevin Weekes will call all remaining games in the tournament for ESPN. Leah Hextall, who previously served as an NHL studio host for Sportsnet, will provide ice-level reporting for ESPN, and "SportsCenter" anchor Linda Cohn will be a features reporter.
In the "SportsCenter" studio to provide analysis will be Hockey Hall of Fame members Brett Hull and Chris Chelios, as well as hosts Buccigross and Adnan Virk.
"ESPN's commentator team brings together a stellar combination of hockey knowledge and experience from Hall of Famers to seasoned play-by-play voices, analysts, reporters and hosts," ESPN senior vice president of production and remote events Mark Gross said. "The 2016 World Cup of Hockey will feature the best players from around the world and will create an environment of international competition and pride in country. Our team of commentators will capture that emotion and provide in-depth analysis from diverse perspectives that fans at home expect."
Eight teams will compete in the first World Cup of Hockey since 2004: Team USA, Team Canada, Team Russia, Team Sweden, Team Finland, Team Czech Republic, Team North America and Team Europe.
Team North America will be comprised of players from Canada and the U.S. who were born on or after Oct. 1, 1992. Team Europe will be made up of players from European countries other than Russia, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic.
