The 29-year-old forward was an unrestricted free agent. He had NHL career highs in goals (19), assists (24) and points (43) in 82 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins last season. He had five points (three goals, two assists) in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games when the Penguins lost to the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference First Round.
"We are excited to add a two-way player with Evan's versatility to our group," Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland said. "He is coming off his best offensive season and has shown he can play in a variety of roles and help a lineup in many ways."

Rodrigues has 129 points (53 goals, 76 assists) in 316 NHL games with the Buffalo Sabres and Penguins, and six points (three goals, three assists) in nine playoff games.
