Evgenii-Dadonov-FA-shell-2

Evgenii Dadonov signed a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. The contract has an average annual value of $2.25 million.

The 34-year-old forward, who could have become an unrestricted free agent July 1, had 33 points (seven goals, 26 assists) in 73 games this season, including 15 (three goals, 12 assists) in 23 games after he was acquired in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 26.

Dadonov also had 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 16 Stanley Cup Playoff games, helping the Stars advance to the Western Conference Final.

"Re-signing Evgenii was high on our priority list," Dallas general manager Jim Nill said. "He was a key player for us down the stretch, and he elevated his game on the big stage during the playoffs. We're happy to get a deal done that works for both sides."

Selected by the Florida Panthers in the third round (No. 71) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Dadonov has 298 points (131 goals, 167 assists) in 486 regular-season games for Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Vegas Golden Knights, Canadiens and Stars, and 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 20 playoff games.
