The forward was traded by Vegas to Anaheim on Monday, but the NHL voided the trade, saying his contract included a limited no-trade clause that had not been complied with.
He is expected to be on the second line with center William Karlsson and forward Mattias Janmark when the Golden Knights host the Nashville Predators (10 p.m. ET; ATTSN-RM, BSSO, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
"He's, one, a great person. I had him my first time in the NHL as a coach in Florida as a young player. Now I've got him back as a man and as a father, husband. I've seen both sides," Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer said Thusday. "The great thing about him is, that if anyone can handle this situation, it's him. He's even-keeled. Nothing bothers him. He shows up. He works. He's a pro.
"I'm happy he's in our lineup tonight. I'm happy he's available. We need him. He's been playing well."
Dadonov signed a three-year, $15 million contract ($5 million average annual value) with the Ottawa Senators on Oct. 15, 2020, which included the limited no-trade clause.
He was traded to the Golden Knights by the Senators for defenseman Nick Holden and a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft on July 28, 2021. Dadonov can become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
Dadonov scored 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) in 62 games this season and is tied for third on the Golden Knights in goals with forwards Max Pacioretty and Chandler Stephenson.
The Golden Knights (34-28-4) entered Thursday one point behind the Dallas Stars for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference, and three points behind the Edmonton Oilers for third place in the Pacific Division.
Vegas received defenseman John Moore, forward Ryan Kesler and a conditional second-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft or 2024 NHL Draft in the trade for Dadonov.
"We respect and accept the decision made today by the NHL with regard to our trade with Vegas on Monday," Anaheim general manager Pat Verbeek said. "Evgenii Dadonov is a player we thought could help our team this year and beyond.
"We will move forward and welcome John Moore to our organization once he's healthy and ready to return."
Selected by the Florida Panthers in the third round (No. 71) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Dadonov has scored 249 points (119 goals, 130 assists) in 397 regular-season games with the Panthers, Senators and Golden Knights. He has one assist in four Stanley Cup Playoff games.
