Ovechkin, whose 678 goals are the most among active players, is six behind Teemu Selanne (684) for
11th place in NHL history
. The Capitals begin a three-game California trip with Ovechkin (345) needing one goal to tie Marcel Dionne (346) for the
sixth-most road goals in NHL history

Thornton, the active leader in assists (1,074) and points (1,487), needs five assists to tie Adam Oates (1,079) for
seventh place
. Thornton also is approaching NHL career milestones for points (1,500) and games played (1,600).
Marleau is the active leader in
games played
(1,681), including a current
ironman streak of 812 games
. That's second among active players to Florida Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle, who is expected to play his 824th consecutive game when the Minnesota Wild visit BB&T Center (7 p.m. ET; FS-F, FS-WI, FS-N, NHL.TV).
