Facts and Figures: Lightning 12th team with 55 wins in one season

The Tampa Bay Lightning became the 12th team in NHL history with at least 55 wins in a single season after defeating the Washington Capitals
6-3 at Amalie Arena
on Saturday.

The Lightning (55-13-4) are also the fourth team in the past 22 years (Capitals, 55 in 2016-17; Capitals, 56 in 2015-16; Detroit Red Wings, 58 in 2005-06) to achieve the feat. They have 10 games remaining and could be the third NHL team with 60 wins (Red Wings, 62-13-7 in 1995-96; Montreal Canadiens, 60-8 with 12 ties in 1976-77).
Alex Killorn had a hat trick, Nikita Kucherov had two assists and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 30 saves to help the Lightning break their records for wins and points (114) in one season set in 2017-18 (54-23-5, 113 points). Tampa Bay leads the Boston Bruins (43-20-9) by 19 points for first place in the Atlantic Division.

The Oilers captain has multiple points in seven straight games since March 2 (16 points; three goals, 13 assists) to match the longest run of the season set by Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews (16 points; 10 goals, six assists from Oct. 3-15) and Kucherov (21 points; six goals, 15 assists from Dec. 18-Jan. 3). Two players in Oilers history have had multiple points in at least seven consecutive games: Gretzky (15 times) and Mark Messier (once). Gretzky holds the longest streak in NHL history with 50 points (17 goals, 33 assists) in 16 games from Dec. 20, 1985 to Jan. 25, 1986.
The victory moved Edmonton (32-32-7) seven points behind the Coyotes for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. Arizona (36-30-6) trails the Dallas Stars (37-29-5) by one point for the first wild card.

Blackhawks push winning streak to five games

The Chicago Blackhawks also remain in contention for a playoff berth thanks to a five-game winning streak extended with a
