Facts and Figures: Jones sets Sharks playoff record for saves

Martin Jones had a record-breaking performance for the San Jose Sharks against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Western Conference First Round on Sunday.

The goalie made 58 saves to help the Sharks to
a 2-1 double-overtime win
at T-Mobile Arena to set up Game 7 at SAP Center on Tuesday (10 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, SN360, TVAS, NBCSCA, ATTSN-RM). Jones set a Sharks record in the Stanley Cup Playoffs by passing the previous mark of 56 saves held by Wade Flaherty in Game 7 of the 1995 Western Conference Quarterfinals, a 5-4 double-overtime victory at the Calgary Flames, and a regular-season team record previously owned by Jeff Hackett, who made 57 saves in a 7-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Dec. 26, 1992.

The Sharks have come back from down 3-1 in a best-of-7 series for the first time in their history. They will play their 11th Game 7 and first since winning 5-0 against the Nashville Predators in the 2016 second round. San Jose is 6-4 in its 10 previous Game 7s, including 3-1 at home.
The Golden Knights will play the first Game 7 since joining the NHL for the 2017-18 season. A victory will make them the 16th team to win its first Game 7 and second in as many seasons. The Winnipeg Jets accomplished the feat with a 5-1 win against the Predators in the 2018 second round, their first Game 7 since relocating from Atlanta in 2011.

Bruins outlast Maple Leafs in Game 6

Brad Marchand had two goals and an assist to help the Boston Bruins
win 4-2
against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Scotiabank Arena to force Game 7 at TD Garden on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, SN, TVAS, NESN).
The Bruins trailed 3-2 in the series and won to survive elimination and force a Game 7 for the 11th time, and first time since winning 4-3 in overtime against the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Torey Krug scored a goal and had nine of the Bruins' 41 shots on goal. He's the first Boston defenseman with that many shots in a playoff game since Zdeno Chara had nine in a 3-2 overtime victory against the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the 2013 conference semifinals. Nicklas Lidstrom holds the postseason record for most shots on goal by a defenseman (since 1959-60) when he had 13 for the Detroit Red Wings in a 3-2 double-overtime win at the Anaheim Ducks in Game 4 of the 1997 Western Conference Semifinals.

Capitals, Stars look to advance to second round

The Capitals and Dallas Stars each are one win from advancing to the second round of the Eastern and Western Conference, respectively.
Washington continues its defense of the Stanley Cup in Game 6 against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena on Monday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN, TVAS, FS-CR, NBCSWA). The Capitals are 20-32 in potential series-clinching games, including 4-0 en route to winning the Stanley Cup for the first time last season.
The Hurricanes/Hartford Whalers have won four times after trailing a best-of-7 series 3-2. Their lone series victory came against the New Jersey Devils in the 2009 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
The Stars are hoping to eliminate the Predators in Game 6 at American Airlines Center (8:30 p.m. ET; CNBC, SN1, TVAS2, FS-SW, FS-TN). They lead the best-of-7 series 3-2, and in Stars/Minnesota North Stars history are 29-22 in potential series-clinching games, including 15-8 at home. Dallas is after its first playoff series win since a six-game victory against the Minnesota Wild in the 2016 Western Conference First Round.
The Predators have won Game 6 to extend a series to a Game 7 three times, and won once, against the Ducks in the 2016 Western Conference First Round.
