Boudreau played 141 games in the NHL from the 1976-77 season until the 1985-86 one. In all his years as a player and coach, he said he'd never heard that chant before.
"I had people tweet that to me and it's pretty funny," Boudreau said. "If you lose the next game it could be, 'Bruce, there he goes,' so I pay as little attention to that as possible."
Despite the echo in the arena, Boudreau admitted he didn't know what the fans were chanting in real time, neither did his players.
"I didn't know what they're saying," Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes said. "I had a buddy in town, and he told me that's what they were saying. It's pretty funny. He said he was laughing. On the ice, I wasn't sure what they were saying honestly."
The Canucks are still in last place (9-15-2) in the Pacific division, but their decisive win Monday is a start to getting back on track.
