Nov. 27 -- Florida Panthers fire Gerard Gallant as coach, general manager Tom Rowe takes over: Gallant loses his job after the Panthers start the season 11-9-1. Florida is 13-11-9 under Rowe.
Jan. 17 -- New York Islanders fire Jack Capuano as coach, replace him with assistant Doug Weight: Capuano loses his job after the Islanders begin the season 17-17-8. Under Weight, the Islanders are 8-2-2 and climbing in the Eastern Conference standings.
Feb. 1 -- St. Louis Blues fire Ken Hitchcock as coach, replace him with associate coach Mike Yeo: Hitchcock, who was scheduled to retire at the end of this season, is fired by the injury-ravaged Blues after a 24-21-5 start. St. Louis is 5-1-0 under Yeo, who was to take over as coach next season.
Feb. 7 -- Boston Bruins fire Julien as coach, replace him with assistant Bruce Cassidy: Julien coached the Bruins to the Stanley Cup in 2011, but Boston was 26-23-6 before his firing. Under Cassidy, Boston is 3-0-0 and has outscored its opponents 14-6.
Feb. 14 -- Montreal Canadiens fire Michel Therrien as coach, replace him with Julien:Despite being in first place in the Atlantic Division, the Canadiens, 18-18-7 after a 13-1-1 start, make a coaching change. Julien, fired one week earlier by the Bruins, takes over for Therrien for the second time in Montreal; the same scenario took place in the 2002-03 season. Therrien was 18-19-5-4; Julien finished the season 12-16-3-5.
