Giddy up. Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau hopped up on Quick Six, the Calgary Stampeders touchdown horse, during a Canadian Football League game against the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.
Huberdeau, entering his 11th NHL season but first one in Calgary, certainly didn't wait until the start of the hockey season to endear himself to fans in his new city. The veteran forward pumped his fist in the air as he posed for a picture with Quick Six and rider Chelsea Drake.
Huberdeau was acquired by the Flames in an offseason trade that sent forward Matthew Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers. Defenseman MacKenzie Weegar was also in that trade and was also in attendance, as was Flames free agent signing forward Nazem Kadri.
Each of the three players wore red Stampeders jerseys with their hockey numbers. Weegar also wore a large Stampeders chain. All three players met Quick Six, but the team only shared evidence of Huberdeau going up in the saddle.
