Bobrovsky makes 42 saves, Blue Jackets top Panthers in shootout

COLUMBUS -- Sergei Bobrovsky made 42 saves to help the Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Florida Panthers 3-2 in a shootout at Nationwide Arena on Sunday.
Pierre-Luc Dubois had a goal and an assist, and Josh Anderson scored in the eighth round of the tiebreaker for Columbus (24-16-3), which has won two of three games.

Nick Foligno scored, and Seth Jones had two assists for the Blue Jackets.

Aleksander Barkov tied the game 2-2 for Florida (17-18-6) with 1:34 left in the third period with James Reimer pulled during 4-on-4 play. Jonathan Huberdeau's shot deflected off Foligno's skate to Barkov for his 13th goal.
"They got an unbelievably lucky goal, [ticked] me off," Foligno said.
Bobrovsky shook it off to make five saves in overtime and stopped six of eight attempts in the shootout.

"Sometimes it happens," Bobrovsky said of Barkov's goal. "The most important thing is we get the two points. Those bounces, we can't control that. It could happen in the first period. It happened in the third."
Barkov and Huberdeau each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who have lost three straight (0-2-1) following a five-game winning streak. Reimer made 46 saves in his 14th straight start.
"It was a good point, a hard-fought point against a real good hockey team," Panthers coach Bob Boughner said. "Both teams had good goaltending. We've got to take the point and move on. We found a way to get a point in a tough building."
The Blue Jackets came out strong and had 12 of the first 13 shots on goal.
Foligno ended a 10-game goal drought when he scored on the power play at 9:47 of the first period to give Columbus a 1-0 lead. He scored on a behind-the-back pass from Dubois to the low slot.

"The first period, we played with energy," Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. "The second period, we were treading water a bit. In the third, I thought we played really well but couldn't get that third goal.
"Their goalie, who I thought really looked shaky early, was outstanding through the rest of the game."
Huberdeau scored on the power play 31 seconds into the second period to tie it 1-1. He has six goals in his past seven games.
Dubois scored on the power play to give Columbus a 2-1 lead with 2:11 remaining in the second off a redirection of a pass from Jones.
It was the second time this season the Blue Jackets scored two power-play goals in a game; the other also was against the Panthers, on Nov. 2.

The Blue Jackets entered Sunday last in the NHL on the power play (11.4 percent).
Reimer made several outstanding saves at the beginning of the third period, and the Panthers outshot the Blue Jackets 18-11.
"We played really well in the third period," Huberdeau said. "That's how we've got to play for 60 minutes."
