Panthers defeat Red Wings for 10th consecutive win

DETROIT --The Florida Panthers won their 10th consecutive game when Anton Lundell scored twice in a 6-1 victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday.

"I didn't even realize we had gotten to 10," Florida coach Andrew Brunette said. "I just know I have really liked the way we have played in the last three or four games. We're bringing our top game every night and when we do that, we're tough to beat."
Aleksander Barkov had two assists and Spencer Knight made 33 saves for the Panthers (54-15-6) to help extend the longest active winning streak in the NHL.
"It's fun to watch when the guys are playing like that, half the time I can't even tell what they are doing," Knight said. "I try not to think about how many goals we score, though, because I need to stay focused on the next shot."

Florida is 10-0-0 since March 29, has 50 points on the road to break its record of 48 set in 2015-16 and won its 22nd road game to tie the record from the same season.
"This has been a lot of fun and I'm lucky to be a part of it," Brunette said. "I get to see this team interact every day and it is a joy. I'm not sure when we will see a group this special again."
Alex Nedeljkovic made 33 saves for Detroit (29-37-10), which lost for the fourth time in five games.
"We didn't respond," Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin said. "They got two quick goals and we didn't do anything to get back into the game. They got rolling and we didn't stop them."

Anthony Duclair gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead at 5:02 of the second period, beating Nedeljkovic with a one-timer off Barkov's rink-wide pass.
Sam Reinhart made it 2-0 at 6:32 off a pass from Mason Marchment.
Florida took a 3-0 lead at 14:23 when Lundell scored on a rebound after a turnover by Detroit defenseman Jake Walman, and Maxim Mamin made it 4-0 at 14:51.
"We felt like the chances were pretty even after two periods, but they scored on theirs and we didn't score on ours," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "Against that team, you pretty much have to be perfect, and we weren't, so it's 4-0."
Lundell scored shorthanded for a 5-1 lead at 5:04 of the third period, converting Barkov's drop pass between his legs.
"I was just trying to keep up with him," Lundell said. "But he obviously has eyes in the back of his head because he put that puck right on my stick."

Pius Suter cut it to 5-1 at 12:04, but Gustav Forsling scored at 13:14 with his third goal in two games for the 6-1 final.
NOTES:Florida's winning streak is the second-longest in team history behind a 12-game run from Dec. 15, 2015 to Jan. 10, 2016. ... Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau's point streak ended at 13 games. … Florida has won eight of its past nine games at Detroit. ... Referee Brian Pochmara, a Detroit native, worked his 1,000th NHL game. He was presented with signed jerseys from each team in a pregame ceremony. ... Suter's goal was his 14th, tying his NHL career high set last season as a rookie with the Chicago Blackhawks.
