The Florida Panthers forward tweeted that he'd traded his No. 72 to the newly signed goalie, and his newest teammate, for a Rolex watch and a year's worth of free dinners.
Glad to give up #72 to @SergeiBobrovsky looks like I’m gunna have to make the change to #77. Can’t wait for my new Rolex and and free dinner for the year! 🤑🤑🤑 https://t.co/e8C5SmiHX5
Vatarano, who has worn the number for his entire four-year NHL career with the Panthers and Boston Bruins, apparently worked out the terms with Bobrovsky shortly after the two-time Vezina Trophy winner signed a seven-year contract with the Panthers. Florida announced Bobrovsky's number less than a half-hour after announcing the signing. "I hope he likes Chipotle and McDonald's," Bobrovsky joked with NHL Network when talking about the free dinners for a year.
We’ve got our man!
Welcome to the next era of #FlaPanthers goaltending.
Vatrano seems content with his new No. 77, but also playing with Bobrovsky. He wasn't alone. Fellow Florida forward Jonathan Huberdeau also voiced his excitement about the move.
