Quick became the fourth United States-born goalie to play in 700 NHL games, joining John Vanbiesbrouck (882), Ryan Miller (796) and Tom Barrasso (777).
"Looking back at playing in that many games, you just think about how many great relationships you've made over the years with teammates, coaches, trainers that you've been with forever. Just feel fortunate to have those memories about all those guys," Quick said.
Rasmus Kupari
and
Martin Frk
scored for the Kings (33-20-8), who had lost two straight, including 5-0 to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. Adrian Kempe (third round) and Trevor Moore (fifth) scored in the shootout.
Los Angeles played without forwards Viktor Arvidsson (lower body) and Dustin Brown (upper body), and defensemen Drew Doughty (upper body) and Mikey Anderson (upper body).
"That was something that was in question, I think, headed into the game with the number of bodies we have missing," Kings coach Todd McLellan said when asked whether it was a necessary win to maintain belief. "And in San Jose, I don't think we overcame it at all. I don't think we were prepared for it yet. We regrouped and we responded well tonight."
Eetu Luostarinen and Brandon Montour scored for the Panthers (40-13-6), who had a five-game winning streak end. Spencer Knight made 35 saves.
"I think this is how it's going to be from here on out," Montour said. "It's nice when you get to score six, seven, eight goals in a game. But you know, teams tighten it up. They obviously watch your tendencies and that's how it's going to be come playoffs. You just have to keep on battling."
