WASHINGTON-- The Washington Capitals scored three times in the third period to defeat the Florida Panthers 4-2 at Verizon Center on Saturday and extend their winning streak to five games.
Washington's three goals in the third period came on five shots in a span of 4:45.
"We knew if we're going to put pressure on their [defense] and have traffic in front of the net, we're going to get success," Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin said. "I think the guys do a great job and respond after a tough first period and you can see results."
